Chaos Erupts Outside Sagana State Lodge Ahead of President Uhuru Meeting

Chaos was experienced outside Sagana State Lodge as thousands of Jubilee supporters who had been locked out of the venue tried to force their way in.

The supporters did not have invitation cards but insisted on being allowed to access the venue on Wednesday.

Police had a hard time trying to mobilize the hundreds of supporters who were not on the list of attendants. This resulted in a commotion that lasted for hours. 

Eventually, the supporters overpowered the police officers and forced their way into the compound while others accessed the venue through the fence.

President Uhuru is expected to meet more than 6,000 delegates from his Mt Kenya backyard. He is expected to endorse Raila Odinga for president.

The Star has established numerous sector leaders have been invited to the all-important meeting at Sagana State Lodge, a session called Sagana III.

Opinion leaders including the clergy, teachers’ unions, boda boda officials as well as select elected and influential political and business elite have been invited.

Allies of Deputy President William Ruto have been locked out of the crucial regional summit where Uhuru is expected to name Raila as his preferred successor.

On Tuesday, Uhuru’s allies insisted the Deputy President's confidants, whom they said have been attacking and undermining the President, have not been invited.
