Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe

Ingredients

250g unsalted butter, softened

2 tsp vanilla extract

6 cups icing sugar

1/4 cup cocoa

450 g full-fat cream cheese.

Procedure

Cut the butter into slices and add to the bowl of your mixer.

Beat on low to medium speed until the butter is softened and smooth then add cocoa and mix until blended.

Add in cream cheese pieces and beat at low to medium speed until incorporated.

Add vanilla extract and gradually add icing sugar beating on low speed until blended.

Increase mixing speed to medium and beat until fluffy, ensure you do not overbeat.

Refrigerate for 10 to 15 minutes.

 

 When using this frosting, it's preferable to do it while it's still quite frozen.  You can prepare it ahead of time, chill it, and then soften it slightly whisking when ready to use. It can frost a three-layer cake.
