French Government Issues Terror Attack Warning to Residents in Nairobi

According to information obtained by Bright Kenya, the French Embassy has warned of a potential terror attack targeting Western citizens in Nairobi in a travel notice dated Thursday, January 27.
The red zoned areas include the restaurants, leisure centres, hotels, commercial centres among other most visited areas within Nairobi.
The French government has advised its citizens to take precautions when visiting those areas especially during the weekends and avoid them whenever necessary since they could be the major hotspots for the terror attack.
The German Embassy has also issued a warning to its people in the country warning them of a potential terrorist attack.

The two authorities have also outlined the necessary measures that the citizens should take in case of a terror attack in the country as well as where they can get quick assistance including contacting the embassy's and Kenyan authorities' emergency phone numbers.
They also announced preventive precautions that their citizens should follow when they are out in public.
The two warnings come barely a month after the US Embassy in Nairobi warned its citizens not to visit certain parts of the country in case of a possible terror attack in the country on January 5th.
The Kenyan government has intensified its security in the areas prone to terror attack particularly along the coastal area of Lamu.
In an effort to increase surveillance, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, in coordination with Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai, has deployed a contingent of police in various parts of the country.
