Harry Kane’s Brace Dim Manchester City Hopes
Manchester City’s hopes of going 9 points clear off second placed Liverpool were dimmed by Tottenham Hotspurs in a stiff and dramatic clash at Etihad stadium.
Dejan Kulusevski opened the scoring at 4th minute to put the visitors ahead before Gundongan equalized for City at 33th minute.
During the half time break , both teams were level with the Spurs making City defenders uncomfortable.
Harry Kane’s goal made the difference after getting a well supplied cross from Heung Min Son to restore the lead at 59th minute with Manchester City failing to capitalize on clear cut chances to equalize.
The relentless efforts by Spurs players made the host fail to earn three points from the game.
At 90 +2 minute Christian Romero handball foul in penalty area gave Manchester City an advantage and the referee awarded them a penalty after a clear review by VAR.
Riyad Mahrez stepped up and scored from the spot to equalize again.
A stoppage time header by Harry Kane made City further disappointed after the striker picked Dejen Kulusevski cross and headed home to seal the victory.
It now means that Manchester City are 6 points ahead of their rivals Liverpool who still have one game in hand. Manchester stand at 63 points while Liverpool at 57 points in the premier league table.
Earlier today ,Liverpool outsmarted Norwich City to keep the title race dreams alive and now if they win the next game they will be 3 points behind the defending champions.
Klopp had earlier indicated that if they win all their games at hand , and City loses their annual game, they will still have their title race alive.
