Hearing of Ex-President Thomas Sankara`s Murder Case Postponed
The hearing of Burkina Faso's Ex-President Thomas Sankara who was assassinated in 1987 has been postponed.
The proceedings were later suspended as defense lawyers requested a one-month postponement.
The Court ruled that the hearing will resume on Monday, October 25, 2021, at 9:00 a.m.
The postponement comes at a time the trial of 14 people accused over his murder case had begun in the capital Ouagadougou on Monday 11th with Sankara's widow Mariam saying she hopes that the truth will emerge.
Among the 14 men accused of killing the country's revolutionary leader and a Pan-Africanist icon 34 years ago was the former president of Burkina Faso, Blaise Compaore.
The former head of state Sankara was shot dead in the course of a coup organized by Capt. Blaise Compoare.

He was assassinated alongside 12 others, by a hit squad in the capital, Ouagadougou, after only four years in power.
His murder was the occasion for an Africa-wide debate over the role of the military in politics.
