HELB Loan Application Open For New Applicants

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) on Wednesday, July 27, announced the opening of their portal to allow for students to submit their student loan applications.

HELB stated that it was focusing on students set to join universities and TVETs after the general elections therefore candidates who sat for the 2021 KCSE are encouraged to apply for the 2022–2023 first-time loans.

Applying candidates should visit the HELB website:  https://www.helb.co.ke/ and register for the student portal using their mobile number and ID number.

How to apply

Applicants must choose the loan application option on the website to apply for the loan.

To access the 2022–2023 TVET First Time Loan Application Form, applicants for undergraduate programs must choose the Certificate/Diploma option, while those applying for undergraduate programs must select the 2022–2023 Undergraduate First Time Loan Application Form (LAF) (LAF).

The applicants may also turn in the application in person at the HELB Student Service Center, Mezzanine 1 of the Anniversary Towers in Nairobi and retain an additional printed copy.

"Print two copies of the duly filled application form. Ensure you preview the form and correct where necessary before you submit for printing. Have the forms appropriately filled and signed where necessary.

"Present one copy of the duly filled form and all the attached support documents at any of the Huduma centers," read the notice in part.

All applicants have been reminded to submit their forms before the deadline of November 30, 2022.

Applicants are to receive progressive notifications on receipt, verification of application award and disbursements of upkeep and tuition loans, and bursary where applicable, upon submission of the loan application.

HELB further said that the loan application process is free and applicants should contact HELB for any questions.
