NEWS ANCHOR/PRESENTER – RAMOGI FM
Royal Media Services Limited wishes to recruit a suitably qualified individual to the position of News Presenter/Anchor. He/she will report to the News Editor

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To sub-edit copy from reporters and correspondents.
2. Writing scripts for bulletins, headlines, and reports.
3. Selecting appropriate stories and exercising editorial judgment on the best angle from which to approach a story.
4. Preparing and presenting material ‘on air’ for both pre-recorded and live pieces;
5. Generating ideas for stories, features, and following leads
6. Pitching story ideas to editors.
7. Developing and maintaining local contacts.
8. Coordinating and liaising with correspondents in the field for purpose of compiling news and features.
9. Make sure that News bytes are of good quality, ethically sound, and precise to the right length.
10. Ensure all social media platforms are updated regularly
11. Advising your supervisor on new trends in online tools, applications, channels, design & strategy
12. Moderating talk shows
13. Write broadcasting reports and execute commercial logs
14. Music research – identifies, propose and source music to be incorporated into the station sound.
15. Cross-promote the company’s online & traditional product lines
16. Conceptualize and execute online campaigns for various projects

Skills and Personal attribute

1. Have a good command of English, Kiswahili, and Dholuo languages. (Attach Voice demo)
2. Strong writing, editing, and analytical skills
3. Ability to moderate a talk show
4. Ability to work odd hours
5. A clear understanding of media laws and ethics
6. Self-driven, assertive, punctual, and organized.
7. Must have a nose for news, broad and strategic thinker, and pay attention to detail.
8. Must demonstrate a professional approach and appearance including enthusiasm, drive, commitment, honesty, trust, loyalty, and keep abreast with evolving

Academic and professional experience

1. A university degree in journalism/mass communication or another related field from a recognized university.
2. At least 3 years experience as a Presenter /newsreader/reporter/sub-editor in a reputable newsroom.
3. Must be social media savvy, innovative, and creative
