Jurgen Klopp reaction after Ibrahima Kanote's signing.

Konate was signed to the Reds after completing his medical tests and transfer terms with the English club.

Klopp hailed the defender’s signing and said that he had admired him since his time at Sochaux.

“I’m really pleased we’ve been able to add a player of Ibrahima’s quality to our squad and he is someone I’ve admired for a long time, ever since I first became aware of his potential when he was at Sochaux.” said Klopp.

He pointed out that Kanote’s arrival will boost the defense after it lost strength when its stars were injured.

“After the problems we had with injuries in the center-half position last season, there’s no doubt it was clear it was an area of the team we needed to strengthen – but I first have to say that the job Nat, Rhys, and Ozan did was incredible. Unbelievable really.

The 53-year-old German praised Kanote for impressive physical attributes and said that that was the quality of player they needed.

“In Ibrahima, we are signing a player who will add to the quality we already have here. His physical attributes are very impressive; he is quick, he is very strong and he is dominant in the air.” concluded Klopp.

The Frenchman has been signed to Liverpool from RB Leipzig on a long term contract.

He joined the Bundesliga club in 12 June 2017 on a five-year contract. In his stay, he made 65 appearances for the German club and scored two goals. He began his senior career at Sochaux B, a French club participating in Ligue 2 before being admitted to the first team.

Konate is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising defenders having impressed in Bundesliga over the past four years and the Premier League side will pay the entire fee up front. He will join Anfield when he returns from the U21 European Championship this summer where he is representing France.

The 22 year-old will boost Klopp’s defense after the absence of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip being felt at the back.

Ibrahima made 21 appearances for Leipzig this season including eight Bundesliga starts as the club finished second with 13 points less from the champions Bayern Munich.

However, he has never played since returning from injury he suffered last December which kept him out for two months, where he missed RB Leipzig’s round of 16 matches against Liverpool. His contract would have expired in 2023.
