Gatundu South member of parliament Moses Kuria has responded to President Uhuru Kenyatta after the president asked for a meeting of Mount Kenya region leaders.

Taking to his social media after the invitation Kuria has said that the timing for the meeting was not appropriate and the president should let the leaders be.

Mt Kenya leaders have been waiting for a proper sit down for 4 years. To call them 143 days before the election and when you have already declared yourself the campaign manager for Kitendawili is contemptuous. With utmost respect and deep regret, just let us be” read the Facebook post

In his recent post, the legislator has listed down the president’s allies from the region saying that the message was intended for them and that he received it by mistake.

The president had earlier summoned elected leaders from the Mount Kenya region for a meeting at State house on Friday the 18th march 2022.

According to reports, the president has invited all Governors, senators and MPs regardless of their political affiliations.

Kiambu senator Kimani Wamatangi, who recently decamped to the William Ruto led UDA party confirmed receiving the text adding that the agenda of the meeting had not been communicated yet.

In what is seen as a fallout between the president and his area MP, who in the recent past claimed to have been used to steal votes for the president to cling into the high office.

The Chama cha kazi party leader uttered the claims during the UDA party’s National Delegates Convention (NDC) where he promised to support Ruto's bid to become the next president.

On the other hand, the head of state had already declared his support for ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
