Justice Martha Koome To be Sworn in Today

Incoming Chief Justice Martha Koome is set to be sworn in today on Friday 21st.

This is after President Uhuru Kenyatta had appointed her as the next Kenya's Chief justice on Wednesday 19th.

However, this was after her nomination was approved by the National assembly.

The President made the announcement in a gazette notice dated May 19, 2021.

“I, Uhuru Kenyatta, President and Commander in Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint- Martha Karambu Koome to be the Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya.”

Upon swearing in as next Kenya's Chief Justice she will take over the seat that was left by Former Chief Justice David Kenani Maraga after his term ended in earlier 2021. 

Ex- Kenya's CJ Maraga was the 14th chief justice and president of the Supreme Court of Kenya from October 2016 till his retirement in January 2021.
