Messi downs former mentor as PSG prevail in 2-0 victory over City.
Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi celebrates his first PSG goal with fellow teammate Neymar in their UCL clash against City last night.

Paris Saint Germain pulled off a star studded display as they beat Manchester City 2-0 therefore ending the Cityzens 15 game unbeaten streak in the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

Idris Gueye made up for missing the first group stage game against Club Brugge due to suspension by putting the Parisians in the lead in the 8th min after a Neymar mishit ball found him in the box and the Senegalese midfielder smashed it into the top corner.

Of course City did what they do best, they had the lion's share of possession and Jack Grealish seemed threatening at times but PSG held off their ground until the Cityzens wasted a golden opportunity to level it up. Raheem Sterling headed the ball into the cross bar after a Kevin De Bruyne ball into the box. Bernado Silva had a chance to convert the follow-up but he also hit the bar.

French International Kylian Mbappe created chances for Ander Herrera and Marquinhos to put the game past City's reach but both failed to convert. Ruben Dias header was saved by Gianluigi Donnaruma  before the teams headed off for Half-Time.

Manchester City started the second half brightly and created 2 chances but Raheem Sterling sent his shot wide while GIGI Donnarumas legs came to the rescue to deny Kevin De Bruyne a chance to level up. After withstanding the visitor's attack for a while, PSG had a chance to push the game past City but Neymar failed to find the target.

In the 74th min PSG put the game past City's reach when Lionel Messi bust forward, combining brilliantly with Mbappe before letting a beautiful strike past Ederson to score his first goal in PSG colours.

Gigi Donnaruma denied Riyad Mahrez late into the game to ensure the Italian kept a clean sheet in his UCL debut.

Mauricio Pochettino will feel satisfied with the result as it definitely makes up for the draw against Club Brugge given that PSG have just won 1 out of their last 5 clashes with English opposition. Meanwhile City's 4 game winning streak against French opposition comes to an end.
