A Homa Bay Court has charged a police officer from Rangwe Police Station accused of defiling a 15-year-old girl.

Josephat Kiate Muindu, the officer, was allegedly apprehended at his home within the police station compound, where he allegedly committed the horrible crime.

Muindu is currently charged with two counts, the first of which is having carnal knowledge of a juvenile on April 12th, 2022, in violation of the Sexual Offences Act 2006.

He is also accused of engaging in an indecent act with a kid in violation of the Sexual Offenses Act of 2006.

The officer was freed on a bond of Sh200, 000 or cash bail of Sh50, 000 after he pleaded not guilty to the allegations before Resident Magistrate Beatrice Toroitich.

 The minor was one of the candidates who took the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams this year and got 371 out of 500 points at a school in Mbita Sub County.

The girl met her misfortune when she went to the police station to seek refuge on the evening of the tragic day after a disagreement with her mother during a visit to Randung Trading Centre in Rangwe Sub County.
