According to Youtube, it stated that the dislike button will now be private to YouTube creators only.

This means that viewers of YouTube videos will only be able to hate a video but will not be able to see the number of dislikes.

In a tweet on Thursday 11th November, the application said it was considering deleting the dislike button entirely, but opted against it after gathering data.

“Earlier this year we launched an experiment making the dislike count private. Based on what we learned, the dislike button is staying, but the *count* is now private to creators (in Studio) to help prevent targeted dislike attacks,” stated the company.

It also further stated that the main aim of the sudden change was to allow authors to openly express themselves without fear of being attacked by audiences.

“We know not everyone will agree with this decision, but we believe it’s the right thing to do to make YouTube safer for creators to express themselves,” it added.
