VIDEO: DP Ruto Asks For Forgiveness from President Uhuru Kenyatta

Speaking during the National Prayer Breakfast held in Safari Park Hotel, Deputy President William Ruto has pleaded for forgiveness from his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"I also know that serving as the Deputy President, I may have fallen short of expectations of my boss His Excellency the President my good friend, I ask for your forgiveness," Ruto stated.

DP Ruto appreciated President Uhuru Kenyatta for giving him a chance to serve as a deputy president under the new constitution.

Kenyatta for the last 10 years. It’s an honor that I cherish. I am the only Kenyan who has served as an elected DP under the new Constitution and I thank God for it. As you head to retirement, may God give you every aspiration of your heart," Ruto stated.

President Uhuru during his speech emphasized the importance of unity regardless of political affiliation. He responded to Ruto by stating that he, too, wishes to retire peacefully after handing over power to the next government following the August 9 General Election.

"I do hope the prayers of DP Ruto on my retirement come true, I am looking forward to peace and enjoyment in the years to come," Uhuru responded to Ruto.

President Uhuru Kenyatta further urged the candidates to practice peace and to accept the outcome of the elections come August 9.

"I wish those contesting the best of luck in August, there shall only be one winner. I wish you peace, I pray we will end up more united after the election," Uhuru remarked.

Despite the two leaders sharing sentiments implying a willingness to end the enmity between them, their differences played out as they did not share a table.
