VIDEO: KOT Calls for Arrest of Motorist Filmed Driving On the Wrong side of the Road

Kenyans on Twitter are now calling for the arrest of a motorist who was filmed driving on the wrong side of the road along Nairobi`s busy Thika superhighway.

According to the concerned Kenyans, the motorist was very unconcerned about endangering the lives of other road users on their way to town.

In a viral video seen by Bright Kenya news, the vehicle can be seen trying to make its way along with the oncoming vehicles with full lights on.

Other netizens stated that the motorist could have been on some high drugs or was mentally disturbed for such an action.

On the contrary, according to Nairobi Police Commander Joshua Omukata even VIP status accorded vehicles owned by senior government officers are not allowed to be driven on the wrong side of the road but are accorded traffic clearance by officers in charge. They have no right to decide which side of the road to use.

Omukata`s statement also read that only in the most extreme situations, as determined by the officers after consultation, can traffic cops award the privilege of driving on the wrong side of the road.

"Under the inevitable circumstances the VIP needs to inform the traffic boss of the area so that the road can be cleared for them if indeed they have to use the wrong side,” Omukata told a local publication in the country.
