A 25-year-old Malian woman successfully delivered nine babies in Morocco on Tuesday.

Halima Cisse, had been flown to Morocco on March 30, for better medical care, when she was initially believed to be expecting septulets.

Ultrasound examinations conducted in both Mali and Morocco had suggested that Cisse was carrying seven babies, read a statement by the Mali's Health Ministry.

According to her government, all the nine babies are doing well although the Moroccan Health Authorities are yet to ascertain what would be an extremely rare case.

“The mother and babies are doing well so far,” Mali’s Health Minister Fanta Siby.

The doctor added that she had been informed by the Malian Doctor who accompanied Cisse to Morocco.

The Moroccan health ministry’s spokesperson, Rachid Koudhari, however, said that he was not aware of such a mystery in one of the country’s hospitals.

In a statement, Mali's ministry of health confirmed that Cisse had given birth to five girls and four boys through a caesarian section.

Siby sent  her sincere congratulations to “the medical teams of Mali and Morocco, whose professionalism is at the origin of the happy outcome of this pregnancy”.

Recently, women have been giving birth to multiple babies, what is termed as a blessing in the fertile Africa.
