A Police Constable Dies By Suicide

The police constable, identified as Samuel Ngatia is believed to have taken his own life in the house at the General Service Unit’s Recce squad camp along Kenyatta Road.

The constable had served as a bodyguard in the presidential escort unit and was stationed at a Kenyatta Road camp.

A friend of Ngatia says that he had two children and had separated from his wife two years ago.

“He did not look stressed when we met last Friday and we are waiting for word from the police on the incident,” a close family member revealed.

Police are investigating the incident to find out the motive behind his move.

Officials who visited the scene stated he used his pistol to blow up his head, and preliminary findings show the bullet entered on the right side and exited on the left side. The police recovered two spent cartridges and one bullet head.

They also found a Jericho pistol loaded with 13 bullets and a Trevor Sub Machine Gun with two magazines loaded with 30 shots in the house.

The body has been moved to Kenyatta University Funeral Home for an autopsy to be conducted.
