Speaking during an interrogation with a local Media House, the legislator condemned the government for arresting politicians instead of searching for the fundamental cause of the Laikipia conflicts.

"The NIS has failed us…We need to look for the root cause of the skirmishes in Laikipia…Sometimes arresting politicians is a decoy to move attention from the real issues… I was arrested over killings in Matungu but up to date, we have never been charged"  Kakamega senator claimed.

According to Malala, arresting politicians is neither necessary nor urgent as far as violence is concerned.

He said this claiming he was one of those who were arrested over the Mutunga killings but has not been charged in court.

“I was arrested over killings in Matungu but up to date, we have never been charged,” Malala added.

Malala's accusation comes few hours after the arrest of the  Former Laikipia North Member of Parliament (MP) Mathew Lempurkel over the ongoing banditry attacks in Laikipia on Wednesday, 8.

Tiaty  Member of Parliament was also arrested over the clash on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the deadly bandit is still ongoing in Laikipia causing hundreds of families to flee their homes.

The latest report indicates that at least ten people have been killed and dozens injured in the skirmish.
