The Former Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ezekiel Mutua lands a new job at the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) after he was kicked off at KFCB in August 2021.

Dr. Mutua was named the new CEO of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) in a statement that followed through on Monday, March 28. Mutua began his new commitments on Friday, March 25, after a troublesome interview process during which he ended up being the best.

"The Board of Directors of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, MBS, as its Chief Executive Officer, effective Friday 25th March 2022," the statement revealed.

"Dr. Mutua's appointment follows rigorous competitive interviews in which he emerged top among the candidates who were interviewed for the position," read the statement partially.

As shown by the affiliation, Dr. Mutua was the simplest qualified due to his history within the media field.

"In the course of his career, he has risen through the ranks from Trainee Reporter ( 1994 ) to Sub-Editor ( 1998 ) at the Nation Media Group, Secretary-General of Kenya Union of Journalists ( 2001-2007 ), Director of Information & Public Communications ( 2007-2011 ), Information Secretary ( 2011-2015 ) and Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Film Classification Board ( 2015-2021 )," read the statement.

During his termination in 2021, ICT CS Joe Mucheru reportedly chastised Mutua and the chairperson of the KFCB board of directors for asking an Inspector General of State Corporations to leave during the board's meeting on June 30, which was in violation of the State Corporation Act.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) began an assessment during which Dr.  Mutua was faulted for getting flighty pay and allowance portions. A member, Ms. Gathoni Kungu, was also under investigation.
