Four People Confirmed Dead in Bungoma After Consuming Illicit Brew.

The four, Three ladies and one man, have been confirmed dead after consuming illicit brew in Canan Village Kimillili, Bungoma county that is believed to have been poisoned.

According to reports by witnesses, the four took the brew on Tuesday evening after which they were rushed to a nearby clinic after complaining of stomach pains.

 According to reports also, one of the ladies who died was the seller of the illicit brew.

According to Canan village administrator, Bernard Wafula, they are still searching for other victims as 10 other people have been rushed to hospital because of the illicit brew complaining of stomach aches.

According to the Alcoholic Drinks Control act NO. 4 of 2010, anyone seeking to produce any alcoholic drink should seek for licensing

No person shall— (a) manufacture or otherwise produce; (b) sell, dispose of, or deal with; (c) import or cause to be imported; or (d) export or cause to be exported, any alcoholic drink except under and in accordance with a license issued under this Act.” The act reads in part.

 With most manufacturers of local brews not licensed, they go against the above act and therefore may face legal measures against them.
