JOBS: Pattern Maker Intern at Vivo Activewear
A retail clothing business that was started in 2011. Initially inspired by a love for dance and fitness, Vivo has grown from focusing on dance and fitness gear, to now offering a full range of clothing styles that include both smart and casual, party items, beachwear, and travel wear.
Job Purpose
The Pattern Maker Intern's main role is to interpret a design concept and put it to paper for the purposes of production. This position requires a close working relationship with the Design Team Leader, garment technologist, and the sample-making team. To ensure the patterns, measurements, and construction process are according to the design concepts, as guided by the Design Team Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that all the patterns have been labeled well and placed in the correct place
- Ensure that you start with prototypes for designs that you’re not sure of
- Ensure that you work on at least 4 patterns on a daily basis
- Ensure all styles meet agreed fit, comfort, and quality standards.
- Prompt feedback from the sample-making team.
- Ensure that construction sheets are well documented to guide the sample makers in stitching the garments
- Contributing to sketching collection mood boards & styles
- Think innovatively at all stages of the creative, design, and development process
- Stay abreast of parallel and influential local & global brands
- Influencer / Celebrity Collaborations
- Work closely with the Marketing & Retail Team to generate, and communicate collection/style direction and develop strong and consistent marketing messages/Brand image
- Contribute to visual merchandising guidance
Professional / Academic Background
- Have graduated with a university degree in Design
- Tech-Savvy / Passion for innovation and technology. Ability to sketch and CAD. Proficiency in PLM, Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator
