KARIMA II TO THE RESCUE
The construction of the Sh. 24 Billion Karumeni Dam II in Gatundu North, Kiambu County is on its final stage of completion as stated in September 2020 by the Principal Secretary of water Joseph Wairagu.

The dam which was earmarked for completion by May 21, 2022 is estimated to have a reservoir capacity of 26,540,000 cubic meters with a height of 59 meters. It will produce 70,000 cubic meters of clean water on a daily basis for irrigation and domestic use to residents of Thika, Juja, Ruiru and Nairobi.
The other schema of the dam is to relieve off pressure of the overwhelmed Sasumua dam, Thika dam, Ruiru dam and Kikuyu springs which supplies water to Nairobi County.
