While issuing a statement, Ex-Kiambu governor William Kabogo asked Kenyans to stay safe and reiterated that the virus has caused numerous deaths in the recent past.

According to Kabogo, a total lockdown is imminent as the third wave of covid-19 is deadly.

Reports in the media though unconfirmed indicate that the Head of State will be addressing Kenyans this weekend to announce new measures in the battle against the Covid-19 virus.

Kabogo’s sentiments come barely days after the Ministry of Health released statistics that indicate a great rise in the number of Individuals getting the virus and those losing their lives to the virus.

In the recent Ministry of Health statistics, between Monday 22nd and Thursday 25th, 81 people had succumbed to the virus.

This led to the Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi warning of dire measures following the rising number of positive cases.

"Nairobi's contribution to the positivity is staggering and stands at close to 57.7 percent and that is very high and disheartening. As we have repeatedly said, it would be irresponsible for us to sit back and watch the situation deteriorate further.

"Unless this trend is arrested, we may have no alternative but to take more stringent measures as necessary to protect the lives of our people," Mwangangi said.

Several leaders including the Narok County Senator Ledama Ole Kina have called upon the President to impose a lockdown in a move to contain the virus.
