Lamu Senator Anwar Released on 500,000 Cash Bail

Nanyuki court granted Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip Sh 500,000 cash bail on Monday 25th October following the gun shooting brawl on Saturday in Nanyuki Laikipia county.

He was accused of shooting and seriously injuring a woman identified as joy Makena on her right leg.  

The woman was then rushed to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital, Laikipia County where is currently in stable condition, and managed to record a statement over the matter.

However, Senator Anwar has been directed to report to the offices of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) every two days.

However, Loitiptip defending himself over the wee hour’s drama stated that he was attacked while in a hotel in Nanyuki and was forced to seek safety by firing over the air.

"I am at a hospital for some check-up and will speak on the matter later, but the truth is that I was attacked by a knife-wielding gang last night," he said.

The incident came barely days after he was accused of allegedly attempting to throw a man into the Indian Ocean over undisclosed reasons.
