Lamu Senator Anwar to Appear in Court Over Gun Misuse Charges

Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip is set to appear in court today Monday 25th October to respond to gun Misuse charges that as imposed on him on Sunday 24th October.

This is after on Sunday 24th he had surrendered himself to police in Laikipia after it was alleged, he shot a woman in Nanyuki town early Sunday morning.

Nanyuki Police Station authorities confirmed the event, saying they were told of a shooting incident at Kanu Grounds in Nanyuki Town.

They discovered that Joy Makena, 32, had been wounded in the right leg above the ankle in the 2 a.m. event when they arrived.

The woman was then rushed to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital, Laikipia County where is currently in stable condition, and managed to record a statement over the matter.

Loitiptip defending himself over the wee hour’s drama stated that he was attacked while in a hotel in Nanyuki and was forced to seek safety by firing over the air.

"I am at a hospital for some checkup and will speak on the matter later, but the truth is that I was attacked by a knife-wielding gang last night," he said. 

The incident came barely days after he was accused of allegedly attempting to throw a man into the Indian Ocean over undisclosed reasons.
