NHIF Clarifies on Linda Mama Cancellation On Ruto`s Govt

The National  Hospital  Insurance Fund { NHIF } has clarified the viral news that Linda mama that was initiated by former Kenya`s first Lasy Margaret Kenyatta has been Cancelled by current President William Ruto.

Reports indicated that millions of Kenyan women could not access the service since it was unavailable.

However, in a statement dated Monday, January 2, the NHIF stated that the programme was still ongoing, with millions of expectant mothers benefitting from the coverage.

It further assured that all mothers would benefit from the programme in all the selected hospitals across the country.

"We wish to assure the public that the cover is active as mothers continue to benefit massively.

The insurer further noted that at least 6 Million Kenyan Mothers have benefited from  Linda mama.

"So far, over 6 million mothers have benefited from the cover since its inception In 2017," read the statement in part.

NHIF also explained the importance of the programme launched in 2017 and further urged Kenyans to stop spreading fake news on the same.

The programme ensures mothers do not strain while footing the medical bills during pregnancy and childbirth and encourages them to seek the services of a qualified birth attendant.

"Expectant mothers access a one-year cover that caters for four antenatal visits, normal or caesarean section delivery, three postnatal care visits and vaccines for the child," NHIF stated in part.

The fake viral news about Linda mama's Cancellation graced the internet in December 2022 with various concerned Kenyans asking for an alternative.
