Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai stated that the Government has increased security ahead of Easter Holiday Celebrations this weekend so as to contain Covid-19.

Hillary Mutyambai on Thursday 1st April while announcing the strict implementation of Covid-19 containment measures stated that the Government has beefed up security ahead of Easter Holiday celebrations this weekend.

While addressing members of the press at the National Police Service headquarters the IG urged people within the Zoned Area of Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Kajiado, and Nakuru Counties which were recently declared a Covid-19 disease infested area to exercise caution and not to travel to other parts of the country except for essential service providers.

He clarified that a total of 33 roadblocks have been set up on all the major roads leading into and out of the One Zoned area to help in the implementation of the cessation of movement in line with the directives issued by President Uhuru Kenyatta last Friday.

He further added that these roadblocks will be manned day and night to ensure total compliance of non-movement into and out of the One-Zoned Area and that the curfew hours will remain between 8 pm to 4 am within the One Zoned Area shall remain in force until further notice.

Mutyambai stated that the National Police Service will conduct the operations jointly with National Government Administration Officers, National Transport and Safety Authority, and the Kenya Police Service. He has released 3000 officers to augment the National Police Service officers in order to ensure that citizens go through this festive season in a secure and peaceful environment.
