Daniel Muchiri, a middle-aged businessman, who runs a barbershop and salon at the Odeon Cinema in Nairobi was killed by armed robbers in Ndeiya, Limuru sub-county.

According to Roseline Mnyolmo, the commander of the Ndeiya sub-county police, Muchiri arrived at his gate at around one in the morning and honked but the gate attendant did not come to open the gate.

A neighbour claimed that they overheard the robbers commanding him to open the car door before shooting.

"We heard them shouting, open the door, several times, and later we heard two gunshots. We walked out when we heard the thug's vehicle leaving," said the neighbour.

Muchiri was rushed to Kikuyu Hospital by his neighbours and family members but was declared dead on arrival.

The police commander claimed that the robbers just took his mobile phone and indicated that further inquiry will reveal whether or not anything else was taken.

The robbers who killed Muchiri are suspected to be those who carjacked a Land Rover Discovery from a former governor's aide.

The victim had dropped off a friend at Ruaka in Kiambu County at 11 o'clock in the evening when he was attacked by the three masked and armed robbers.

They conducted a series of robberies in Nairobi and Kiambu counties on September 14, Wednesday night.

The carjacking victim was bundled in the boot of his vehicle while the robbers drove the vehicle around committing more robberies.

The victim was rescued by a good Samaritan and recorded statements in Limuru Police Station and in Lang’ata Police Station in Nairobi later on Thursday.

He was robbed of everything in his possession at the moment, including cash and a cell phone

The Land Rover Discovery was last seen at Pangani Shopping Center in Nairobi at 5:45 am on Thursday, according to surveillance cameras positioned on city streets.
