Confirming the news, the Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant said that he was ready to face off Bishop Margaret Wanjiru during the party nominations who has been the face of UDA in the city.

Sakaja announced yesterday that he is a member of Deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and that he will actively participate in the party's nominations on April 14.

“When did I join ANC? I was in Jubilee and when I left I went straight to UDA. We are now gearing up for nominations on April 14,” Sakaja told journalists

Sakaja, one of the front-runners for the position of city’s gubernatorial position, has been hanging out with Mudavadi in recent months, including yesterday when the ANC chief received grassroots leaders from Lang'ata, Dagoretti South, and Kibra constituencies.

We continue to listen to the people as we chart the way forward for our country and the great county of Nairobi. Their resolve is clear. The vision is strong. Our match is unstoppable,” Sakaja said after yesterday’s meeting.

Sakaja's entry into UDA has given the DP a new headache, since he has spent the week brokering deals amongst competing hopefuls in an attempt to avoid bitter feuds inside his organization and the Kenya Kwanza Alliance. Wanjiru and Sakaja accompanied Ruto on the DP's latest voter treks across the city, and he made sure they both spoke.

Wanjiru stated yesterday that she was ready to compete with Sakaja in the nominations. She expressed fear, however, that within Kenya Kwanza, there were others conspiring to sabotage her campaigns.

“Yes, I am aware that he is in UDA and he is just coming to spoil (for me). Let him know that I am ready to face him in the nominations. Nitamfunza vile siasa za Nairobi zinafanywa.” Wanjiru said.

“Who does not know that I was the first person to declare that I will vie for Nairobi on UDA? I have been active on the ground consolidating my base. Some of the individuals you are hearing that are vying for governor are just clueless, they do not know what they want in life,” she added.

Other UDA affiliated members present at the meeting included Millicent Omanga who is vying for the City’s women representative position under a UDA party ticket, Karen Nyamu who is vying for the city's senatorial position among other grassroot leaders.
