The two were welcomed to the party by deputy president William Ruto during his unveiling as the UDA flagbearer.

The event was held at the Kasarani gymnasium in Nairobi on Tuesday during the UDA National Delegation Convention.

This comes a day after Embu Senator Peter Njeru joined the party, alongside over 40 MCAs from Tharaka Nithi and Meru counties.

On Monday, while welcoming the MCAs to the United Democratic Party, DP Ruto said they had joined the ‘winning side.

This follows after 30 MCAs from Kiambu counties joined UDA, ditching President Kenyatta’s side.

The DP said the MCAs believe there should be a shift to building the country's economy, hence the bottom-up approach.

"They believe that there should be a new paradigm shift to build our economy from the bottom. Karibuni Hustler Nation!"

On Sunday, during the Kenya Kwanza rally at Thika Stadium, Kiambu County Senator Kimani Wamatangi defected to UDA.

He said the decision to switch camps was made after intensive consultations between him and the electorate.

"I am not here to joy ride. I am here because this is the place that I need to be. I have talked with the women in the market, the youth in their jobs, and the men in their homes, and even with my own family, and all of them have told me that from here, UDA is the party," Wamatangi said.
