Tuju Appointed as Azimio Secretariat's Executive Director

Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has chosen former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju as the executive director of the Azimio la Umoja secretariat.

According to Raila's spokesman, Dennis Onyango, the position which Hon. Tuju has been appointed is effective immediately.

"The appointment, which Hon. Tuju has accepted, takes immediate effect," a statement by Raila's spokesman Dennis Onyango released Tuesday read.

He further added that Tuju was picked because he was an excellent communication professional with experience in public affairs management.

"A communication specialist by training, Hon Tuju has decades of experience in politics and government, having served as a member of Parliament, Cabinet Minister, and Jubilee Party Secretary-General," he added.

Tuju, as Executive Director, will coordinate all Azimio member parties and manage the strategic and program teams tasked with ensuring the coalition's victory in the August 9 elections.

Tuju's appointment comes just two months after he announced his resignation as the Jubilee party's secretary-general at the KICC during the party's National Delegates Convention (NDC).

He expressed his pride in his accomplishments as secretary-general and thanked President Uhuru for entrusting him with the post.

"Thank you for standing with me even at a personal level when I had a horrific accident until now I am able to stand here," he remarked.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, who presided over the convention, thanked Tuju for his services and appealed to Odinga to help him if he pursued political ambitions.
