What are the similarities and differences between C.Ronaldo and Michael Jordan?

After another textbook Cristiano Ronaldo performance, Manchester United salvaged a point from their Champions League group-stage match against Atalanta on Tuesday, November 2. Cristiano Ronaldo twice drew the Red Devils level after goals from Josip Ilicic and Duvan Zapata, with the Portuguese forward finding the back of the net in the 46th and 91st minute respectively.

What are the similarities and differences between C.Ronaldo and Michael Jordan?

After the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer referred to his striker as Manchester United's Michael Jordan. When asked whether his side are often too reliant on their No.7, Solskjaer was clear. "We all have our roles and responsibilities. Cristiano is a leader in the group, he scores goals," Solskjaer explained.

"I'm sure the Chicago Bulls didn't mind having Michael Jordan either. Sometimes the teams have the players they have and that's why they are at Manchester United

"You come up with those moments. Cristiano is getting better and better for us; he's feeling better and is up to speed now."

Ronaldo vs Jordan

The two sports stars are unrivalled in their fame. But how do the two compare with one another?

As per the Sun, Ronaldo has a net worth of 367 million pounds, which seems rather little compared to Michael Jordan's 1.2 billion pound fortune.

However, their 2020 income was relatively similar, with Ronaldo bringing in an impressive 91 million pounds, just short of Jordan's 95 million pounds.

One statistic that the footballer does trump the former basketballer in, however, and quite dramatically, is his number of Instagram followers. The Portuguese star has 322 million followers on the social media app, compared to the American's 22.6 million.

In terms of sporting achievements, the two players are relatively similar, with Ronaldo boasting seven league titles, five Champions Leagues and five Ballon d'Or awards (although it may well have been a fair few more if it weren't for Lionel Messi).

Jordan, on the other hand, stands with six NBA titles, five NBA MVP trophies and two Olympic gold medals.
