World’s No Tobacco Day

As the world marks no tobacco day, World Health Organization (WHO) urges smokers to make a pledge to quit today.

World’s No Tobacco Day

Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, millions of people have resolved to smoke tobacco and other related drugs for various reasons; could be as a hobby or to let out life’s stresses. Quitting tobacco and related products is hard, but you can do it with the right support and tools! With professional support and quitting services, tobacco users double their chances of quitting successfully.

A tobacco user loses a lot; from health, the health of one's family and loved ones, money, looks, and so much more. Quitters are truly winners.

WHO goes ahead to give benefits to quitters. The benefits of quitting tobacco are almost immediate. After just 20 minutes of quitting smoking, your heart rate drops. Within 12 hours, the carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to normal. Within 2-12 weeks, your circulation improves, and your lung function increases. Within 1-9 months, coughing and shortness of breath decrease. Within 5-15 years, your stroke risk is reduced to that of a non-smoker. Within 10 years, your lung cancer death rate is about half that of a smoker. Within 15 years, your risk of heart disease is that of a non-smoker.

The reason, why one should quit tobacco smoking, is that it has adverse health effects. It literally affects every organ of your body. Research also shows that lifelong smokers reduce at least 10 years of their life span. Besides health effects, it has social and economic effects as well.

Quit tobacco! Breathe well! Be healthy!
