Abdulswamad Sworn in as Mombasa Governor

Abdulswamad Nassir has been sworn in as the newly Mombasa Governor. Nassir took the oath of office on Thursday 15th September.

On September 15, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Mama Ngina Waterfront, he took the oath of office.
Mombasa Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku presided over the procedure. She oversaw the newly elected governor's oath and witnessed his signature being added with his deputy Francis Thoya.


After receiving 119,083 votes, Nassir was declared the winner of the Mombasa mini-elections over his close friend and challenger Hassan Omar Sarai, who received 98,105 votes.

Ali Hassan Joho, his immediate predecessor, was present for the swearing-in event.

Esther Passaris, a representative for Nairobi Women, Kalonzo Musyoka, the head of the Wiper party, and Martha Karua, a candidate for vice president in the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya alliance, attended the ceremony.
