Manny Pacquiao a former eight-division champion finally announced his departure from the sport on a bid to focus on his political ambitions as Presidential aspirant of the Philippines.

Manny ‘Pacman’ being the only Boxer to ever win world titles in 8 divisions has served as a senator in his home Country Philippines since 2016. The announcement delivered by Pacquiao at a press conference Wednesday Morning has finally brought an end to a legendary 26 year professional career run in the Boxing sport.
‘Pacman’ last fought in a pay-per-view fight against WBA welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas in August where he lost. Pacquiao began his boxing career in 1995 a 16 year old weighing 106 pounds. He became well known for his Lightning-quick Southpaw that would overwhelm his opponents. Pacquiao was taken in by Hall of fame trainer Freddie Roach in 2011 which took him to the US for the first time. 
Apart from Boxing, Pacquiao was the head coach and player for the Philippine Basketball Association team for three seasons from 2014 to 2017. He then later founded his own semi-professional Basketball League named Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. Pacquiao is presently a honorary member of the Boston Celtics.
Pacquiao joined politics on February 12 2007 vying for a seat in the Philippine House of Representatives to represent the 1st District of South Cotabato province under the Liberal party. He was later elected to the House of Representatives representing Sarangani Province. Pacquiao’s wife, Jinkee also got elected as Sarangani vice-governor in 2013. In December 2020, Pacquiao became the Acting President of PDP-Laban which is the Philippines ruling party.
