BREAKING: CS Matiang`I Declares Monday a Public Holiday

Dr. Fred Matiang'i, the Secretary of the Interior Cabinet, announced on Wednesday 6th that Monday, October 11th will be a public holiday.

BREAKING: CS Matiang`I Declares Monday a Public Holiday

Matiang'i stated in a statement that because the public holiday occurs on Sunday, October 10, the celebration will be held on Monday, as required by the Public Holidays Act.
The day was known as Moi Day until 2003 when President Mwai Kibaki's administration decided to discontinue celebrating it.

Moi Day was abolished as a national holiday in the 2010 constitution. The High Court declared in 2017 that October 10 would remain a holiday unless the Public Holidays Act was repealed.

Huduma Day, according to Matiang'i, will be observed on that day.
