Details sourced by Bright Kenya news from one of the Mutahi`s home worker, the fire began at 1: 45 am where they alerted the police and raised an alarm with the fire brigade who arrived late at the scene.

The worker further revealed that Ngunyi`s family was not hurt but nothing was saved in the inferno which gutted down the home Mutahi has lived for the last 27 years in the high-end Runda suburbs.

"The family was around when the fire started past midnight but no one was hurt. Nothing was saved because the fire engines delayed.”

Ngunyi`s house burned down barely a day when the Kiambaa By-election was set for Thursday 15th. This sparked mixed reactions on social media citing claims that it may have been due to political woes.

In a statement, Ngunyi revealed that the incident occurred at around 1:45 a.m. Adding that he had lived in the house for the past 27 years and that it was alarming that the incident occurred hours after he had made a video analysing Kiambaa violence of 2008 after the 2007 general elections.
