Former president of the United States Barack Obama has announced that he has tested positive for Covid -19.

 Taking to his twitter account, Barack said that he had symptoms of a scratchy throat, however he is fine.

“I just tested positive for COVID. I’ve had a scratchy throat for a couple days, but am feeling fine otherwise. Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and boosted, and she has tested negative.” Barack said.

Obama urged the unvaccinated people to get vaccinated even at a time when cases are going down.

“It’s a reminder to get vaccinated if you haven’t already, even as cases go down.” Read part of his post.

Obama will be the second former president who has announced contracting the disease after Donald Trump who contracted the disease last year October at a time when vaccines were not widely spread.

Since the time the United States announced its first case, Obama has been in the forefront encouraging people to wear masks in public places and to get vaccinated.

Earlier this month, president Joe Biden had announced that the US was moving into a phase that is less disruptive in terms of the Covd-19 pandemic. Further, Biden laid out his plans by the US government to come out of the covod-19 pandemic.

The World Health Organization (WHO), has continued to urge the world to continue taking health measures to curb the spread of the disease.
