According to Eddie`s statement that he issued on Tuesday 19th October, he refuted claims that they assaulted two women at a downtown hotel on Saturday night.

The Wapi Pay's co-founders claimed that they did not assault any ladies and that they were only de-escalating the situation when two women they met at the Ole Sereni hotel got into a physical altercation.

The Ndichu brothers also added that they were defending themselves against the group's attacks and had reported the incident to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

"Our understanding is that the allegations and video currently being shared on social media, albeit horrific and regrettable, do not depict the true events that transpired that night," the statement read in part.

"To be clear, Paul and Eddie got involved in an attempt to neutralize a confrontation between two women and to defend themselves from certain aggressors. The matter has been reported to the police and DCI for further investigation and resolution. Pending this, we request restraint be exercised in potentially and unfairly spreading misinformation that has no factual basis."

On the other hand, they reassured their customers that they do not condone any sort of gender-based violence and appealed for their partners' patience as law enforcement investigates the incident, which has sparked widespread outrage on social media.

"Paul and Eddie, want to use this medium to express their deepest regrets for the incident that occurred. Wapi Pay is built on, and practices, a culture of respect for employees and customers and does not tolerate any form of discrimination or encourage any form of gender-based violence," read the statement from the Ndichu twins.

The Ndichu brother's statement comes at a time Janet Mbugua also spoke on Monday 18th evening vowing to end any form of Gender-Based violence that has been happening for decades.

“I am saddened by increasing incidents of Gender-Based Violence(GBV). Over the last decade, I have joined my voice in efforts to #EndGBV. I condemn all forms of GBV irrespective of who is involved and will continue to speak out against it. We have laws in Kenya and justice must prevail,” she tweeted.
