KeNHA Says Drainage System on Nairobi Expressway to be Fixed.

The Kenya National Highway Authority has told commuters who use the Nairobi expressway that the drainage of the said road will be fixed.

KeNHA Says Drainage System on Nairobi Expressway to be Fixed.

The contractor is working to ensure that all other aspects of the Nairobi Expressway are likewise fixed, and that the road is safe for all motorists, according to a statement released by KeNHA on Monday, April 18.

"The water on the Expressway will be properly channeled to designated drainage lines.” KeNHA reported.

Because the pool of water on the Expressway was draining to the lower road, causing significant flooding, traffic on Mombasa Road and Uhuru Highway was disrupted following Monday's heavy downpour.

"We regret any inconveniences caused by this occurrence," KeNHA said.

Furthermore, according to KeNHA, construction on the Expressway is still ongoing, with the drainage system's final installation still pending.

"In the meantime, the contractor has deployed extra work teams and equipment to focus on all outstanding works, including the drainage system, targeting completion before the rains result in peak flows,” KeNHA said.

Even while work to remedy the situation continues, KeNHA asks motorists to exercise caution when driving through stormwater in the impacted areas.
