Didmus was released on a Ksh10 million bond and a surety of Ksh5 million over the shooting incident. In addition, the court mandated that he avoids Bungoma County. Barasa pleaded not guilty to the murder of Olunga a supporter of his opponent and DAP-K’s Brian Khaemba.

Following his surrender and arraignment ten days ago, the court authorized police to hold Barasa in custody for ten days so that investigations could be conducted. Detectives from the Forensic Crime Scene Investigations section carried out extensive investigations and identified Barasa as being near the crime scene.

Similar to how they did, ballistic specialists at the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) National Forensic Laboratory connected Barasa's gun to the deadly shot that claimed Olunga's life.

This came after the investigative team sent Barasa's Glock Pistol, a cartridge found from the scene, and bullet fragments to the ballistic lab for forensic study. This was in response to a report produced by the ballistic experts.

Olunga passed away as a result of a bullet wound to the right side of his skull, according to an autopsy performed last week.
