Ahmednasir compared former House Speaker Kenneth Marende to Bungoma senator-elect Moses Wetangula, saying Moses Wetangula was the best choice for the job.

The two are among the twenty-one aspirants who have submitted applications for the post of Speaker of the National Assembly.

Marende previously served as the speaker of the 10th parliament while Wetangula served as Bungoma senator.

Wetangula is more likely to clinch the position since there's a high number of elected Kenya Kwanza members in the house.

On September 7, Moses Wetangula resigned as Bungoma Senator to vie for the National Assembly Speaker. According to the law, an individual vying for the position of a speaker has to resign from any public office.

Wetangula told the media on Wednesday after submitting his papers to parliament that he resigned a day after his election as Bungoma Senator-elect was gazetted.

"I did resign a day after the gazettement of my election," Moses stated.

Wetangula stated that the Parliament is critical in managing the country's public affairs.

He reiterated that the Kenya Kwanza administration will not be involved in state institution capture. Wetangula also promised that if he is elected Speaker, the 13th parliament will be free of fear and favor.
