The MCAs made the abrupt visit to the facility after angry residents held demonstrations at the health facility’s main gate complaining of poor services.

The residents held demonstrations following an incident where a female patient died at the waiting bay as nurses celebrated a colleague’s birthday.

In the same hospital, a 24-year-old mother of two died after bleeding to death.

Led by Laikipia County Assembly Health Committee chair Veronica Ikunywa, the MCAs demanded an explanation as to why the hospital was not delivering good services even after the county allocated millions to the health sector.

“This sad scenario also explains why our patients have always been referred to other facilities in Othaya, Nyeri, and Kiirua hospital in Meru,” the Health Committee chair said.

Also present was Majority leader Joseph Kiguru who lashed out at the management of the hospital saying they have failed in their mandate to provide quality healthcare to the people of Laikipia.
