Newly Elected MPs To Get Oriented Next Week

Newly elected Members of Parliament will participate in a Parliament orientation before the parliament reopens next month.

She stated that there will also be a tour of Parliament Buildings and briefings by the Office of the Clerk on vital legislative concerns, among other things.

According to the clerk, President Uhuru Kenyatta will announce the date of the first session of the newly elected MPs.

The election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly will take place at the same sitting as the oath of affirmation, which will be administered by the Clerk of the National Assembly during the first sitting of the House.

The MPs will also receive a briefing on how to vote in the Chamber, a tour of the Parliamentary complex, and Office of the Clerk updates on crucial legislative issues, among other things.

The original National Identity Card or Passport, the Kenya Revenue Authority Pin, and the original Certificate of the Elected Member of the National Assembly issued by the IEBC Returning Officer must all be carried with the member during the session.

They will also include an updated CV and a Bio-data form that has been properly completed and signed.

In order to ensure a smooth transition into the 13th Parliament, former MPs have also been urged to complete any outstanding administrative clearances immediately.

Kioko urged all MPs to be present during the meeting, even those who had been re-elected.
