Ole under pressure

In the recent weeks, Ole and his dugouts' future has been put under serious scrutiny. Following the signings of CR7, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, United was destined or rather deemed by many to be title challengers as the Norwegian’s side is possibly the strongest side ever assembled post Fergie era. Despite the big signings, Ole’s boys have had an abysmal start to the season campaign and following the weekend's derby loss to bitter rivals City are now languishing in sixth place, level on points with Brighton(mind you the Seagulls have an extremely low budget compared to the United big boys) as well as three points behind ‘relegation threatened Arsenal’ who have had an astonishing few weeks forging a comeback and are now in fifth place. As of yesterday, it was reported that Brendan Rodgers had verbally agreed to be Manchester United’s new manager.

Ole under pressure
Manchester United's Norwegian manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in a past match. The United tactician faces an uphill task to secure his future as United have showcased a run of lackluster performances in the past two months. Rumours claim that a verbal agreement between United and Brendan Rodgers has been made.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s position has been under jeopardy in the recent weeks following a run of dismal results. His future was put to question following the Red Devils 5-0 hauling to Liverpool last month. Rumors surfaced that his time at the helm would be decided in the next three games. United would go on to trash Tottenham, draw to Atalanta and lose convincingly to Manchester City.

The Norwegian, to many United fans dismay deserved the sack however to opposition fans, knowing that United is a ‘free giveaway’ are yearning for him to stay so they can bag free points.

Ole out?

And now following Saturdays 2-0 loss to City, reports are claiming that Brendan Rodgers has agreed verbally to replace Solskjaer. The reports claim that he is open to the task however his personal preference is to wait till end season.

Rodgers is currently one of the PLs finest having enjoyed successful stints at Liverpool and Scottish powerhouse and currently dethroned champions Celtic and is now doing an astounding job at the Foxes. If the rumors materialize, it will be interesting to see how Rodgers will bring change to the United team specifically their defensive structure as Rodgers current team Leicester also suffer have their own defensive woos having conceded 17 goals in the opening 10 games. He will also be expected to kickstart United’s season as fast as possible with the recent United signings not up to their required standards with the exception of Cristiano Ronaldo who has hit the ground running .

Brendan isn’t exactly a serial winner but has tasted silverware recently having won the FA Cup against Chelsea and the Community Shield against English Champions Manchester City. Compare that CVto the former Molde caretaker who is at his 3rd season with no sign of silverware embracing the United dugout any time soon. United lacks intensity in pressing the opposition half and this makes it easier to bypass their attack and midfield creating mayhem in the defense. The Irishman has an incredible resume which includes team rebuild and just might be the perfect man for the job.

The Red Devils have gone a whopping 1637 days without tasting any type of silverware. The fans are losing patience and it’s only a matter of time before things begin to go astray. As per now, Rodgers rumor is only speculatory but the United hierarchy needs to assess the various managerial options after the poor display from the club. Will United restore its glory days and go back to dominating English football and possibly Europe? Only time will tell.
