Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has responded harshly to President Uhuru Kenyatta who recently seemed to suggest that his Deputy William Ruto should resign if unhappy with the direction the government is taking.

In a recent interview after meeting editors, Uhuru said: “I have an agenda that I was elected on. The honorable thing to do if you are not happy with it is to step aside and allow those who want to move on to do so then take the agenda to the people.”

The sentiments have since received mixed reactions with Sudi, a close ally of the DP now saying there is no chance that Ruto would give in to the pressure.

Addressing locals in Eldoret town on Friday, the vocal MP said Ruto was not the president’s appointee hence he would not resign.

He also wondered why the president would ask his deputy – who helped him ascend to power – to resign.

“Your deputy who helped you to be president it has come to a point that you want him to resign, let me tell you (president Uhuru), William Ruto will not resign, it is not you who gave him that job, it is Kenyans that elected him,” Sudi told hundreds of locals who had gathered at Silverline in the Uasin Gishu County’s capital.

He, however, called on Kenyans, especially those in the Rift Valley region to remain peaceful and unity irrespective of the direction the country’s politics will take.

According to Sudi, any Kenyan has a right to live in any part of the country – and that politics should not scare anyone from any part.

“Whatever hot this politics might become or the direction it would take, we should always remain united because we are all Kenyans,” the legislator said.
