Pope Francis has named Reverend Philip Arnold Subira Anyolo as the new 5th Archbishop of Nairobi in the Roman Catholic Church.

On Thursday, October 28, 2021, Archbishop-Elect Philip Anyolo Subira's appointment was officially announced in Rome.

The Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya, Archbishop Hubertus van Megen, sent a letter confirming his appointment to the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB).

Archbishop-elect Anyolo, on the other hand, is poised to succeed Archbishop Emeritus John Cardinal Njue, who retired on January 4, 2021, after 13 years of service to the Archdiocese.

Before his appointment, the Archdiocese of Nairobi has been led by Auxiliary Bishop David Kamau, who has served as the Apostolic Administrator since January 4, 2021, since Cardinal Njue's retirement.

Bishop Philip who is from Tongeren, Bungoma County, On October 15, 1983, was ordained as a priest. On December 6, 1995, he has consecrated bishop of the Kericho diocese.

On May 23, 2003, he was appointed Bishop of Homabay Diocese. He has been the Archbishop of Kisumu since November 15, 2018, until today's appointment.
