You might not know specifically how to impress the person but since you have basic knowledge of how someone would like to be treated, you engage in it. Most times, we tend to overdo it and that always puts the other person off.
Some tend to start pet naming the other party and trying to win them over by spending much time with them and that is no remedy. Let them feel themselves and have more time to themselves like they used to. Once you put it across that you like them, it is up to them to decide. Avoid pet naming even when things are not official yet, do not offer to spend more time if the other party has not agreed to or proposed the same, and do not be too much available. The other person may feel like you are overwhelming them with your idleness.
