Kogo was killed in a horrific car accident in Kangemi, Nairobi today as he was headed for a talk show on KASS FM Radio when the accident occurred at about 5.30 a.m.

According to police, he was traveling in a matatu bound for Nairobi when it collided with a bus.

Nairobi police traffic boss Joshua Omukata stated that they are investigating the incident.

“He is the only one who died then. We didn’t know he was the aspirant,” stated Omukata.

"We thought we had finally found a leader who would restore the leadership and lost glory of our constituency. Our thoughts, hopes and dreams have suddenly been cut short... What a tragedy! What a loss! RIP my friend," residents shared their condolences on social media.

The deceased's body was transported to City Mortuary, where a postmortem examination would be performed to determine the cause of death.

The event occurred less than 24 hours after Ali Mwatsau, a Mombasa politician, escaped an assassination attempt in Mombasa County on Tuesday night after his car was sprayed with 22 bullets.

UDA officials have stated that they want to request a deferral of the nomination process. The nomination period is set to begin on April 14.
