Barely two days ago President William Ruto deployed the General Service Unit {GSU} and the Rapid Deployment Unit {RDU }  to curb the criminals who have made an upward trajectory of crime rise in Nairobi Central Business District {CBD} and its surrounding areas.

Cabinet secretaries gave their approval for the stationing of the police as an addition to the security personnel patrolling the city in a despatch from the Cabinet dated Tuesday, November 15.

This comes after a string of robberies and muggings that have been reported, notably in the financial area (CBD).

"Cabinet sanctioned swift and decisive action to deal with all those perpetrating crimes with the deployment of additional specialized police units drawn from the GSU and RDU," the despatch read in part.

The CS also decided to increase security surveillance to curb criminality. To bring about peace in the North Rift, a squad akin to this one was also put in place.

"Cabinet approved the reinstatement of the multi-agency co-ordination between Kenya's security organs and operators at all points of entry I detect and prevent trafficking in Narcotics and other psychotropic substances," the statement read in part.
